Significant Other Approval System

Do you want to buy a motorcycle but your Significant other just can’t see it yet? Here are a few steps to help you swing them over to the motorcycle side. These aren’t foolproof, but they're a good start. Whatever you do, don’t make your significant other upset; do these in a way that your Significant Other can handle it.

  • Step 1: Education
Change your computer’s homepage to www.motorcyclehound.com. This is a subtle hint and they will get to look around and learn more about owning and buying a motorcycle. Make sure that you have your notes, or a sticky note to go to the Cost Comparison Guide.

  • Step 2: Experience
There is plenty of good motorcycle merchandise out there that you can use everyday. Get your Significant Other some clothing, sunglasses, hat, jacket, or other general merchandise. Something small but significant - I would suggest wearing your motorcycle helmet on your next car trip, but depending on your Significant Other, this could backfire. Use the Motorcycle Search Engine to help narrow down the motorcycles that you want. Then take pictures of others, preferably your friends, on bikes or print pictures off the internet of people enjoying riding.

  • Step 3: Affordability
Use the Cost Comparison Guide to show your Significant Other how affordable owning a motorcycle can be. Compare it to other activities that you already do, and use the gas mileage comparison to see how little gas you will use.

  • Step 4: Lifestyle
Here is the fun part: go out to your local Bike Night, preferably go with some of your friends who ride. Let your Significant Other see what they are missing up close and personal. This will help break down any pre-conceived notions they have about riding motorcycles. Choose your Bike Night wisely, you want this to be a pleasurable experience. See if one of your Expert rider friends will ride your Significant Other, or see if they will let your Significant Other take it for a spin. Your local dealership may have demo’s available for them to ride also.

  • Step 5: Pre-Approval
Go to the Finance Application on this site and get pre-approved for your dream machine. Then you know what your options are, and you can really show how affordable owning a motorcycle can be. Also, get an Insurance Quote on your Motorcycle so that you have all of the variables in front of you and have the true cost.

  • Step 6: Dealership Visit
This is the last step in the process. This visit may not be for you to buy, yet, but it gets your significant other in the place where they can get the most information. Let them see, feel, and touch. Find a qualified salesperson to go over the units that you are interested in. Make sure that your Significant Other sits on the motorcycles. Let the salesperson know what you are up to and they should be able to help. I would suggest sending a Quote Request to one of our affiliate dealerships and making contact with a salesperson beforehand. Set an appointment with that salesperson when you make your dealership visit. Then they can be prepared to meet your needs.
