Performance Options
It doesn’t matter which type of riding you do, there plenty of performance options out there for you.
Here is a very brief overview. If you have specific questions about your bike and its performance options, contact us at Info@MotorcycleHound.com or visit your local dealership.
Air:
High performance High Flow Filters: K&N makes a filter upgrade for just about any bike out there. Increasing the air intake, letting it breathe easier, can increase the power and efficiency of your motorcycle.
Fuel:
Jet Kits: For you carb junkies, you can change the jets in your carb to tweak your fuel delivery to match the rest of your bike’s settings. Teaming up a jet kit with an air filter kit and exhaust will give you maximum performance and efficiency.
Fuel Injection Tuning: For the ones with Fuel Injection, you can use any number of tools to tune the fuel curve on your computer to match the rest of the components of your bike. Most all are referred to as Power Commanders, even though that is the name for the most popular one. But, Suzuki dealers have a Yoshimura Box to tune the computers on Suzuki Bikes. Cobra makes a unit to do so and etc etc.
Exhaust:
Slip on Mufflers: Slip on mufflers are the easiest way to upgrade your exhaust. They just replace your existing mufflers with mufflers that have increased flow. Most of the time, increased flow comes with increased sound as well. Most of the time, installing slip on mufflers will not change how the bike runs enough to make you change the air filter and fuel flow.
Full Exhaust: This replaces the whole exhaust system from the head down. It will give you the best performance and or the best sound. These range from straight pipes (more for sound) to 2 or 4 into 1 exhaust systems (for best performance). (2 into 1 for V-Twins, 4 into 1 for 4 cylinder engines)
The best way to do any fuel, air filter, and exhaust tune is to use a Dyno. Dyno tuning is the only way to get the setting exact because it test the bike under full load, which is improbable if not impossible to do without a Dyno. Dyno runs aren’t cheap and they have to be teamed with the purchase of a the upgrade parts.
