Warranty
Most all of the motorcycles on the market today have a Manufacturer’s Limited Warranty between 1 and 5 years in length with unlimited mileage. So, what does your Manufacturer’s Limited Warranty cover? The company line for most motorcycles is that they "warrant that each vehicle is free from defects in materials and factory workmanship." If there is a mechanical breakdown or defect in workmanship the repairs will be completed at no charge to you for parts and or labor.
What is not covered by your Manufacturer’s Limited Warranty?
The limitations of your warranty contain, but are not limited to the following:
- Tires
- Regularly scheduled maintenance
- Damage to the vehicle that is not the manufacturer’s fault
- Damage caused by misuse, abuse, or improper vehicle operation which includes wheelies, racing, burnouts, incorrect changing of the gears.
- Also damage caused by incorrect levels of oil, coolant, or brake fluid.
- Damage caused by alterations or modifications not approved by the manufacturer.
- Damage caused by improper or insufficient maintenance and or repairs.
- Do yourself a favor and document all of your maintenance and repairs just in case you need it to prove you properly maintained the motorcycle.
- Check with your local dealership for a list of all of the exclusions of your warranty.
- Check with your local dealership Finance Manager for information on Extended Service Plans.
- Extended Service Plans extend the coverage of your manufacturer’s warranty. The difference between a warranty and an extended service plan is that Warranties are given freely by the manufacturer, and ESP’s are offered for a fee. That is why they are called Extended Service Plans instead of Extended Warranties.
